The Programming Language That Might (Secretly) Actually Exist

Those adamant readers may have already seen the page I made immediately before this one about Learning a Programming Language That Doesn't Exist. If you haven't you could go read that first but to sum it up I learned how to program a calculator with no IDE or basically any documentation whatsoever. Well... while doing research for that page I may have stumbled across something that changes things. Let's just say, CASIO isn't always the most transparent on what's compatable with what.

The Secret IDE

It turns out, there actually is an IDE for this language. The reason I didn't find it before was becuase it actually isn't listed as being compatable with my calculator on the CASIO website. Remember I have the CASIO FX-9750GII. This is what the part of the CASIO website for that program looks like currently:

Please note how under the "Compatable Series" header there is ZERO mention of any FX-9750G. You can see how I was mislead. You might be wondering how I actually figured out that it was compatable. Well, you'll see in the image above that there are manuals for the program available. If you look in there you'll see a full list of compatable devices where FX-9750GII is listed as supported. The only reason I can think of for it to not be listed as a compatable series is that the FX-9750GIII (3 instead of 2) isn't supported by the program and so technically the whole series isn't compatable. It also turns out that I already have that program installed on my PC and was using it to transfer files off of my calculator, and had simply not seen the functionality that allowed me to program on my PC instead of having to use the cramped little calculator screen.

This actually opens a lot of possibilities about what I can make on the calculator. At the moment I'm too tired to really try anything with my newfound programming tool, but in the future I'll definitely be attempting to create a more complex game and possibly even an optimized snake game as I had originally planned to when I first discovered my calculator's programmable functionality.
